the Ancient Society of York Florists hold the record for the "worlds longest running horticultural show". We have held an annual show every year since being founded in 1768, even through the period of WW1 and WW2, however over the centuries the venue has changed. Even though the guinness book of records lists the Shropshire Horticultural Society as holding the record for the worlds longest running horticultural show to be held continuously in one place, their record from 1875 to present comes a distant 2nd when compared against our shows which started 107 years earlier. Hopefully the guinness book of records will eventually give credit where it is due and acknowledge this feat by the Society.
